Het Perfecte Plaatje is a Dutch TV show in which well-known Dutch celebrities compete in a series of photography challenges. Under the guidance of professional photographers such as William Rutten, they are tasked with creating images based on specific assignments, ranging from portraits and landscapes to conceptual or technical themes. Each week, their work is judged by a tough panel of experts, and one participant is eliminated until a winner is ultimately crowned as the creator of the perfect picture. The program has been on the air for ten years, and the recently renamed Photography Museum Hilversum seized this opportunity to present an exhibition celebrating a decade of perfect pictures. The public clearly embraced it: I have never seen such large crowds in the museum. The result is a collection of photographs that is not always to my taste, depending on the theme or the approach taken, but all in all impressive, especially considering that some of these celebrities started photographing from scratch for the sake of this TV program. I selected some of my favourite perfect pictures to show here.
