A new platform for photographers and other artists in Amsterdam, the NockNock Art Fair connects buyers directly with artists without the galleries. Strolling through the corridors of the Kromhouthal in Amsterdam offers renewed encounters with previously seen artists such as Anna Riabova and Joost Wensveen, while also providing a fresh perspective on both emerging and more established names. I was particularly drawn to the work of Loes Haverkort, whose series Troost is touching with nostalgia and sensitivity; the inverted views of Amsterdam imagined from the perspective of the canals by Suzan Baars; the delicately crafted, transient plants of Rianne Noordegraaf; the evocative images of Kyoto by Mine Manap Turel; and the striking landscapes of Kayleigh Groenendijk. I was surprised to see so many visitors at such a venue. This may be a sign that art, and particularly photography, is finally finding its way onto the walls and into the private collections of many locals. I look forward to the 2027 edition of NockNock to discover more talented individuals.
