I discovered the work of Martijn Jebbink while visiting de Kunstkamer in Leiden. Martijn Jebbink is a Netherlands-born photographer who, until recently, was based in Rome. He approaches photography with curiosity and wonder, exploring the connections between people, nature, light, and the world around him. Curiosity and wonder, exploring the world around him… music to my ears! So, full of curiosity and wonder myself, I started exploring his dreamy, romantic black-and-white images, and I was immediately convinced. Dramatic skies, passing silhouettes, and people seen on the street or within a wider landscape invite me, as a viewer, to discover hidden stories, let my imagination wander, and feel a sense of connection and belonging. But his work does more than that: as a photographer, it challenges me to question my own vision, improve my skills, and experiment with new approaches. My coup de cœur for his work is therefore more than justified!
